Jokers are powerful, but they have limits. Learning those limits makes online American Mahjong much easier to read.

Where Jokers Help

Jokers can stand in for tiles in larger matching groups such as pungs, kongs, and quints. They are not a free replacement for every tile in every hand shape.

Joker Exchange

When an exposed group contains a Joker and you hold the natural tile it represents, you may exchange your tile for that Joker when the table rules allow it.

Beginner Mistake

Do not treat a Joker as a guaranteed win. A hand still needs to match a valid card line, and public exposures can make some plans too risky.
